Prof. Shyam Prasad sir presented the talk and explained about the following points

  • After your Engineering there are three paths- Job, Higher Studies, and Entrepreneurship.
  • Jobs are classified into various types like government, Defence, Techinal/Core, IT/Software.
  • Identify the area of interest and research groups.
  • Students have to prepare a strong Cirriculam Vitae which includes

    • Internship
    • Project Work
    • Certificates
    • Extra-Circular Activities
    • Position of Responsibilities

Government jobs:

  • UPPSC Jobs
  • Engineering Services Examination
    • Consists of five papers
    • Total sum of 1000 marks
    • General Knowledge, Aptitude and Core subjects of Mechanical Engg.
  • Civil Services
    • IAS (Indian Administrative Services)
    • IFS (Indian Foreign Services)
    • IPS (Indian Police Services)
    • IRS (Indian Revenue Services)
    • IFS* (Indian Forest Services )

Defence:

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is an agency of the Republic of India, responsible for the development of technology for use by the military, headquartered in New Delhi, India.
  • DRDO has a network of 52 laboratories
  • Engaged in developing defence technologies covering various fields, like aeronautics, electronics and computer sciences, materials, missiles, combat vehicles development and naval research and development.
  • The organization includes more than 5,000 scientists and about 25,000 other scientific, technical and supporting personnel.

  • Tough Recruitment procedures are maintained

IT /Software field:

  • According to statistics 33% of other branches shift into IT sector.
  • TCS, INFOSYS, ACCENTURE, CAPGEMINI, CISCO, HCL, IBM, WIPRO, are some of the multinational companies which recruit in a large scale every year.
  • TCS recruited more than 40,000 new employees this year. More than 30000 were placed into INFOSYS.
  • Some of the Advantages are white collar job, easy placement, more income, multi national exposure, 5-day week.
  • Disadvantages are low certainty of job, it is a chair of roses full of thorns, low incentives.
  • Communication skills, stress management, courage to face the interviews, inter-personal relations, leadership qualities are major factors that is been considered

Name of the Activity: ACTION PLAN

10.00-11.00 --> Teams were divided and instructions for writing action plan were given. Each team was asked to come up with different ideas.

11.20-12.20 --> Each team had presented their ideas and came out with one idea with which the action plan seemed feasible.

12.20-1.30 --> For the idea finalized, each team had prepared the action plan.

1.30- 2.30 --> Lunch Break.

2.30-3.30 --> A presentation was prepared by each team for their action plan.

3.30-4.00 --> Each team had presented their Action plan.
