Event:Case study on Kingfisher airlines by Mr.Venkatesh.

Mr.Sashi Kiran welcomed the gathering by reminding abut the practicum.

Mr.Venkatesh started the event by an case study of Kingfisher airlines.

He explained about the service provided by Kingfisher.

He discussed the topics like
                          >history of kingfisher
                          >reasons why kingfisher was in top position
                          >reasons why kingfisher is in debts
                          >what is the current position of kingfisher airlines.

He concluded the day with talking about Kingfisher current status, who is responsible for that position etc.

THEME AERO DAY 12

TOPIC: TALK ON CFD

Mr.P.Prem Chand started the session with his talk on CFD.

The topics covered by him are
                   >definition of fluid
                   >history
                   >contributors
                   >equations regarding CFD
                   >solution for the equations

Prof.Shyam Prasad added his views on the topics and gave a clarification on the topics.

He encouraged the students to actively participate in these type of activities and achieve great success in the
future.

Mr. Prem Chand concluded the session with giving the conclusions to the topics discusses by him.

Prof.Shyam Prasad appreciated Mr.Prem Chand for his work on CFD.

Presentations from Tejas team are postponed and will be included in any of the sessions in the following days of theme.

RULES FOR POSTER PRESENTATION


KLU ASME STUDENT SECTION

THEME AERO

Poster presentation:

Date of competition: 18th march, 2012

Time: 11.00am – 1.00pm

Venue: Thermal sciences lab

Rules for poster presentation:

1. A team should contain a maximum of 2 members.
2. Submit an abstract with not more than 200 words, on or before 16th March, 2012.
3. Send the abstract to sravanth999@gmail.com with the subject of format -‘Abstract –
your id. no – your squadron name’.
4. Please include your complete details (i.e. name, id. no, branch, section, roll. no, email id)
in the abstract.
5. The size of the poster should be of A2 or A3.
6. The font size should be large enough, so that it can be readable from 1 meter distance.
7. The font style should be Times New Roman or Calibri.
8. The logos of ASME and KLUniversity should be included in the poster ( OR a logo of KLU
ASME Student Section can be placed on top corner of the poster).
9. Your details (i.e. name, id. no, branch) should be placed in the bottom right corner of
the poster.
10. The soft copy of poster (done in Photoshop, PowerPoint or any other tool) should be
converted to image format and send to sravanth999@gmail.com with subject ‘Poster
presentation – your full name’ on or before 17th March, 2012.
11. The posters received after 10.00pm, 16th March, will not be considered in the
competition.
12. The aspects considered in the competition are: Technical content of presenter,
Presentation skills, Poster format and appearance.

PROBLEM STATEMENT FOR PRACTICUM


KLU ASME STUDENT SECTION


THEME AERO- PRACTICUM

Competition where every student is expected to prepare his own water rocket.

Problem statement:

1st round:

Design a water rocket which should be launched with less than 60 psi pressure and the stability
of your rocket is judged

ARENA:

• Each team shall be provided with a launcher through which he has to launch

RULES & REGULATIONS:

>Radial distance between the launcher and the final rocket will be calculated

>Lesser the distance more the stability hence, marks shall be allocated accordingly

>Different marks shall be allotted for new type of fins

>The team shall disqualify if any damage occurs to the launcher

>Best of 2 trails will be considered.

>Only one model for each round is allowed.

>Bonus point will be awarded for own launcher prepared by participants.

>Use of any electrical components is allowed

>Any new model or innovative idea is encouraged by awarding prize for best innovation
model

2nd round:

Design your rocket for which the time of flight of rocket is calculated by following the
same rules and regulations as mentioned above.
