Leadership Training Conference 2013

The LTC is an event that takes place every year in India. Participants of this event comprise of senior leaders and student members of ASME. This event provides ASME members an opportunity to interface with each other so as to enable them to work together more closely. It also provides ASME's volunteers with leadership training, essential information for key unit and committee members and networking opportunities with peers. The 2013 LTC will be focused on the following needs of volunteer leaders:

  • An overview of the Society's organization and key initiatives and resources
  • An opportunity to share ideas and best practices with your peers
  • Leadership (including communication and project management) skills training to help members succeed in volunteer position and professional work
  • Networking opportunities with other volunteer leaders and ASME staff


The following sessions were conducted:

  • Video conference with Marian Heller, Senior programming manager of global communication who gave a presentation on the working structure of ASME and provided guidance and encouragement to the associate members. She also gave brief information about Engineer for Change (E4C) which is a social network that provides the platform to the engineers round the globe to connect and share.

  • Mr. Madhukar Sharma had spoken on the launch of latest membership model
  • The session was followed by Mr. Abhinav Gupta introduced with the structure of District G. Next was
  • Rishi Saharia explained the fuctions and strategies of ASME India student board.
  • Mr. Aditya Sharma gave a brief introduction on the revised version of asme.org Phase 2 with an aim of encouraging virtual student participation on web.
  • Mr. Dilshad Sulaiman's presentation on volunteer recruitment & participation.
  • Later Prof. Anil Gupta who gave a webinar regarding Workshop on Frugality. In this workshop, the videos related to the concept of Frugality were shown. Few students were also given the opportunity to visit IIMA based on the model/concept made on the concept of frugality.









  • The conference was brought to an end with a vote of thanks by Mr. Yash Gupta.

Talk on Career Orientation

Prof.K. Shyam Prasad Sir had addressed the gathering and presented the presentation throughout the span of time. The following are the key points of the presentation.

After B.Tech, students have 2 opportunities as Job, Higher Studies.

 Job:

  • In general jobs are of 3 types as Core jobs, IT jobs and Business or entrepreneur skills.
  • Advantages of Core Jobs were discussed and requirements of core jobs like technical knowledge were stressed.
  • CSS and CPT training classes are important for jobs.
  • If we had got On campus job, don’t neglect other jobs in OFF campus. It’s better to try them.
  • Sir had stressed on mini projects and their important role in placements.
  • Identify the area of interest and research groups.
  • Maximum number of jobs is on software side. Recently core jobs are also increasing.
  • Solving puzzles to develop analytical skills is very useful in Debugging and software testing.
  • Statistics shows that, in software, we will retire at 40 years.
  • Basic requirement for software job is C language. It’s better to have knowledge in C++, JAVA, DBMS etc.
  • The important thing required for software job is sitting in front of computer for long hours.
  • Prepare to write NAC-TECH. This is All India Level Exam for IT companies.
  • Rather than core and IT jobs, other issue in jobs is establishing a company i.e, becoming an entrepreneur.
  • Planning for workshops will help to get the entrepreneur skills.
  • Organisation, planning and managing are the important things useful for entrepreneur skills.
  • The other important category of jobs is Civil services, Air Force, Navy and Army.

 Higher Education:

  • This is the best for students how are cooking for research oriented jobs in industry and academics.
  • For higher studies, we have paths like M.Tech, MS, MBA etc.
  • For having admission in IIT’s and NIT’s student should have a rank below 600 in GATE.
  • For MS. Students should have good academics of more than 75% and GRE score of 300+.
  • Managerial jobs for MBA will help to have entrepreneur skills and facilitates for carrier change.
  • IT’s better to go through CEO’s , GM’s profiles of a company that we are going to place.

The Flag Bearers of KLU ASME for the year 2013-14

KLU ASME Student Section has successfully appointed its next flag bearers for the academic year 2013 - 14. Students from various departments have sent their nominations for various positions of responsibilities in KLU ASME. The students were given an opportunity to present their ideas, interests and future plans to all and then were interviewed meticulously during the days of 26th, 27th and 28th of March 2013. The Positions of Responsibilities are given in such a way that the student can align his career path with it and work for it with full interest and passion. 

The core team for the year 2013-14 was announced in the occasion of the Success Meet of ASME SPDC India 2013. The following students will be serving the student community for the next academic year 2013-14.

SPDC Success Meet

KLU ASME Student Section has organized a Success Meet on 29th March 2013, to Congratulate the organizers of the successful Student Professional Development Conference 2013. The Faculty Adviser, Prof. Shyam Prasad K and the core team of KLU ASME Student Section were present along with all the organizers of SPDC India 2013. The organizing team has worked for two to three months to accomplish various tasks assigned to it towards SPDC. Many students from second and third years of engineering from various departments have joined the team for the first time and have enjoyed working with the team. 

As a part of the Success meet games and fun events were conducted to give a break to the students from the exacting schedules and rejuvenate them. The core team had the opportunity to interact with the organizers and share ideas. The next core team was also announced on this occasion. Certificates for the Organizers were also distributed. All the organizers enjoyed the day by spending time with their friends.

    Workshop on Wheeled Robots

    This is the first workshop that was held outside the K L University by KLU ASME Student Section, since its origin. The workshop is on Wheeled Robots. The following members taught the Workshop at Paladugu Parvathi Devi College of Engineering:
