Talk on SPDC 2014

Mr. CH. Karteek initiated the presentation regarding SPDC and discussed a few points.
- SPDC-Student Professional Development Conference will be held at BITS Pilani from
March 28th to 30th, 2014.
- SPDC District G will be held for the first time in India.
- This time SPDC India and SPDC District G will be held simultaneously and the winners will compete in the finals that are to be held at IMECE, Canada.
- Each Participating member should be an ASME Member.
- For Oral Guard Oral Presentation only 2 papers are eligible per student section.
- Internal Competition will be held for Paper Presentation and the deadline for submission of abstracts will be 5th March 2014.
- The papers which are not been promoted to SPDC will be converted into Poster Presentation.
- For Poster Presentation the participant need not be skilled in Photoshop but can also prepare it using a PowerPoint Presentation.
- SDC problem statement was explained.
- Water Rocketry competition introduced by the BITS Section. Design, aerodynamics, accuracy are tested.
- Elections will be held for the following posts which provide an opportunity to represent in SDOB-Student District Operating Board ,India

  • Public Relation Officer ( eligibility only for girls)

      Prof. K. Shyam Prasad clearly explained the major competitions and discussed a few points  regarding the rules and restrictions related to certain competitions.

- Candidates participating in OGWP can take guidance from Mr. Kartheek , Ms. Sunanda , Mr. G.B. Prasad.
- The Participants should not aim only at winning the competition. They should be able to gain the concepts acquired during the process and during the competition by learning from other teams.

Talk by Mr Jayadev Galla

Mr Jayadev Galla is the Vice-Chair and the Manging Director of Amara Raja Batteries Limited, a leading manufacturer for advanced Lead Acid batteries for Industries and Automotive applications. The company was awarded with Ford World Excellence Award in 2004 under his leadership. He has received many awards including Young Indians National Branding Chair .

Ms Gayatri has initiated the talk introducing the chief guest Mr jaydev Galla and his achievements. Later Ms Sushmita has given a presentation on ASME and the Diversity Action Grand program “Sci-Tech School Fest”.

Mr Jayadev Galla had an interaction session with the students.

Talk on Robotics at Amrita Sai Institute of Science and Technology

In continuation with the policy of sharing technical knowledge and creating awareness amongst other institutions about ASME, the KLU ASME organized a one day workshop on robotics at Amrita Sai Instittute of Science and Technology, an engineering college affiliated to JNTU Kakinada. The expert talks were delivered by Prof. Shyam Prasad, the faculty advisor of KLU ASME student section.



The workshop was conducted in three sessions from morning 9:00 am till 4:30 pm in the evening. The first two sessions were utilized for knowledge sharing on various issues related to the fundamentals of Robot kinematics and current research in the area. The sessions were attended by students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.



The third session was dedicated to introducing ASME and the services it offers to both students as well as professionals. The procedure for starting a student section was also briefed and the students were invited to visit KLU to witness the activities being taken up by KLU ASME student section.

The day was concluded with a question and answer session followed by felicitation of the resource person Prof Shyam Prasad.

Women in Engineering for school children-Ratnam Public school

The girl students of Ratnam Public School were given an opportunity to understand the various streams they can continue their higher studies. The students visited the mechanical labs and were given a overview of all the machines and tools.

Prof. Shyam Prasad interacted with the students regarding their ambitions and spoke on the importance of understanding your passion and following it.
