RENEWABLE ENERGY WORLD CONFERENCE AND EXPO, Poster Presentation Competition.


• India’s current renewable energy base is 13,250 MW ( 7.7% of total installed base)
• The southern state of Tamil Nadu contributes nearly a third (4379 MW) largely through wind power
• India is ranked 5th in the World for wind power installed capacity
• Indian Wind Energy Association has estimated the ‘on-shore’ potential for utilisation of wind energy for electricity generation is of the order of 65,000 MW
• In July 2009, India unveiled a $19 billion plan, Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, to produce 20,000 MW of solar power by 2020
• India could cut approximately 42 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions with its new solar plan, which aims to provide access to solar-powered lighting for 3 million households by 2012

ICMBD-11, KL University.

An International Conference on Multi Body Dynamics(ICMBD), is to be held in KL University from 24th to 26th February 11. Key Note speeches about the advances in the fields of Robotics, Mechatronics, Machine Design, Vibrations etc will be presented by esteemed professors from IITs and several other world class universities.Interested students may attend the conference by registering.

Theme Energy - Instructions Regarding Field Trip to LANCO and V.T.P.S.

The Field Visit to V.T.P.S and LANCO Power Plants have been confirmed and will be organized on 18th Feb 2011. In this regard, the students are expected to follow the mentioned instructions for a productive visit.
 
  • Timings:
                       V.T.P.S: Bus will leave the campus by 12:15 pm.
                       LANCO : Bus will leave the campus by 12:45 pm.
                      The bus will be in front of the main entrance gate.
  • All the students are instructed to follow the Dress Code( Shoes, Boys- Properly tucked in, Girls- No loose clothing ).
  •    Every student is expected to maintain discipline.
  •  Students are instructed to carry their college Identity card and Registration slips all the time during the visit.
  • The Students are strictly instructed not to touch any machinery and keep away from restricted zones of the plant.
  • The students are instructed to return to the University campus after the visit, in order to witness the Cultural Fest programs.
  •  All the students are instructed to follow the guide lines of the Theme Coordinators Mr.Ravi Sekhar, Siva Ravi Teja, P.Ravi Teja, M.Sravanth.
  • The students are expected to have an early lunch and be ready "near the main entrance gate " by 12.00pm.
  • Snacks will be provided to all the participants after the visit.
  •  Students are requested to study about the basic functioning of a Thermal Power Station before the visit, for the better understanding of the same.
  •  Students are instructed not to carry any valuables and we are not responsible for the loss of any.
  •  Any Cell Phones or Cameras are to be submitted to the In charge before entering into the plant, as they are not allowed inside the plant. They should be left with personal identification tags.
  •   Note Pad and Pen will be given to all the students in the bus itself.
  • The students are expected to give their feedback to the In charge after the visit.
  • Asst.Prof.S.Sudhakar Babu and V.Ranjit kumar sir will be accompanying students to V.T.P.S.
  • Prof.K.Shyam Prasad, Asst.Prof.K.Srinivasa Rao will be accompanying students to LANCO.
  •   The KLU ASME Student Section is confident that its members will uphold the dignity and decorum of the University at all times.

Theme Energy-Model Building


A Working Model of Steam Power Plant has been constructed and demonstrated by Mr.Pavan Kumar.Ch (II/IV ME), On 12th Feb 11, under the Theme Energy.

Prof.Shyam Prasad, Faculty advisor, KLU ASME Student Section congratulated Pavan for his work and inspired the students by saying the spirit of Engineering lies in making such projects and adviced all the students to participate in Model Building which make them more efficient and Proactive.


Theme Energy- Poster Presentations

KLU ASME Student Section has organised the Poster Presentations under the Theme Energy on 12th Feb 11.
A total of 6 posters were presented by the following students:

  • M.Satya Sri  (II/IV ME) on "Resource Exploitation for Energy Production".
  • Dinesh          (II/IV ME) on " Comparing Energy practices in India and Western Countries".

  • Turin Datta   (II/IV ME) on "Masdar city - Eco City" and " Renewable Energy from Roads and People"

Theme Energy - Quiz Round II

Theme Energy –Instructions regarding Field Trip to KTPS (Kothagudem Thermal Power Station) on 6th February 2011.



·         All the students are instructed to follow the Dress Code( Shoes, Boys- Properly tucked in, Girls- No loose clothing ).
·         Every student is expected to maintain discipline.
·         Students are instructed to carry their college Identity card and Registration slips all the time during the visit.
·         Do not venture into the waters during the visit to Kinnerasani.
·         Students having Chronic problems or any Medical Problems are instructed to inform the same to the In charge apriori for taking necessary precautions. Such students are also requested to carry their own medicines and take necessary precautions.
·         Basic First aid kit will be available with Mr. Ravi Sekhar during the visit.
·         The Students are strictly instructed not to touch any machinery and keep away from restricted zones of the plant.
·         All the students are instructed to follow the guide lines of the Theme Coordinator Mr.Ravi Sekhar.
·         Students are requested to study about the basic functioning of a Thermal Power Station before the visit, for the better understanding of the same.
·         Students are instructed not to carry any valuables and we are not responsible for the loss of any.
·          Any Cell Phones or Cameras are to be submitted to the In charge before entering into the plant, as they are not allowed inside the plant. They should be left with personal identification tags.
·         Every one is expected to carry Water Bottles of their own during the visit.
·         Always follow the instructions given by the Guide while going through the visit.
·         Note Pad and Pen will be given to all the students in the bus itself.
·          The Bus will halt for Break Fast and lunch at appropriate times. Student should take care of  the expenses for the same. However snacks will be distributed to all by 5.30pm.
·          The students are advised not to take any heavy or oily foods before the day of visit and the journey.
·         The students are strictly instructed to follow the Rules and Regulations of the Thermal Plant.
·         The parents/guardians may contact Mr.Ravi Sekhar (Ph.No: 9246215545) for any details regarding their ward.
·         Bus route along with the schedule is put up in the blog and has been mailed to all the participants. The students are instructed to check it and are expected to be present in their respective stops in time.
·         The students are expected to give their feedback to the In charge after the visit.
·         The bus is scheduled to leave KTPS at 5.30pm and is expected to reach Vijayawada by 9:30pm and the bus route will be the same in the return. So students are expected to plan their way back home accordingly.

ASME TEAM @ IIT Bombay –TECHFEST 10


A team of ASME members have recently participated in the model building competition organized by the IIT Bombay Techfest-10. The team stood in fourth position in the competition HYDRANOID, in which about hundred teams from various colleges of India have participated.

Prof. K.Shyam Prasad, Faculty advisor, KLU ASME Student Section, congratulated the team for their effort on behalf of the KLU ASME Student Section.

ASME team @ IGIAT, Vishakapatnam.


 A team of ten students have been to IGIAT-Indo German Institute of Advanced Technology, Vishakapatnam,  the one of its kind in Andhra Pradesh offering the Automation courses. The course was on the simulation tasks done in automation of machines and many devices.  The course was held from 28.11.2010 to 10.12.2010 on the Programmable Logical Controllers. The team had a practicum on the CNC lathe, CNC milling machine along with the basic manufacturing operations done in an industry. They are certified jointly by the German Government and                Gayathri Vidya Parishad. The team is also successful in making a project on the automation of CNC lathe machine. And the team will be back to conduct a workshop on PLC for the next theme Mechatronics.
