Talk on DAG


  • Prof. Shyam Prasad initiated the talk giving the outline of HPVC and its achievements – getting 5th in design event with the help of pictures
  • KLU- ASME works for the goals of every individual
  • Sir has pointed out the importance of attending as many workshops as possible and understanding your field of interest.
  • Emphasized on the advantage of participating in SPDC

                - Networking - Able to interact with like- minded people
                - Winners of the India level will be awarded prize money and a partial funding to compete with the best in America

  • For paper presentation, an internal competition will be held within the college to select 2 best papers.
  • Failure to be selected in paper presentation will be provided guidance to convert their paper into a poster and participated in poster presentation.
  • The KLU-ASME student section has being awarded $2000 for a project on Scitech Fest targeting Students of Financially Weak Schools.
  • Under the program ,

                - The participating children will be having a direct advantage from the fabrication of the project.
                - The participating schools strength will be provided to watch the projects while the projects are exhibited
                - Awareness programs and opportunities for the parents
                - Better teaching methodologies for the teachers

  • Through DAG the participating students will be benefited by

                - Strengthening their fundamentals
                - Learning to interact, manage and coordinate with small children

  • Every volunteer will be guiding 2 to 5 students in making a project
  • The time frame that is expected to be completed is 15-20 days which requires 2 Saturdays , Sunday and 5 weekdays
  • Every participating volunteer must be a member of ASME and will be given 2 certificates.
  • Interested students are required to send a mail.

Report on HPVC

HPVC is an international competition and is being held in India by IIT Delhi for the first time. Three events were included – Design Event, Drag Event and Endurance Event. The Rose-Holman team which has won eight of the past nine ASME east or west coast competitions have taken up the role of judges.

HPVC 2013 had 38 participating teams. K L University competed with elite colleges like IIT Bombay, NIT Rourkela, NIT Patna, and Bits Pilani

KLU ASME HPV was much appreciated by the judges especially in the design. The team had secured 5th position in the design event and 2nd position in Innovation.

College Field trip – Ratnam Public School

The students from Ratnam Public School have visited various labs of Mechanical Department. The students were active during the sessions conducted .Prof. Shyam Prasad have explained some of working mechanism of the machines

  • Flow of water through various devices like Venturi Meter, Orifice.
  • Pumps, Working and their uses.
  • Water flow through various sized pipes and the forces acting on them.

Defence:

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is an agency of the Republic of India, responsible for the development of technology for use by the military, headquartered in New Delhi, India.

IT /Software field:

  • According to statistics 33% of other branches shift into IT sector.
  • TCS, INFOSYS, ACCENTURE, CAPGEMINI, CISCO, HCL, IBM, WIPRO, are some of the multinational companies which recruit in a large scale every year.
  • TCS recruited more than 40,000 new employees this year. More than 30000 were placed into INFOSYS.
  • Some of the Advantages are white collar job, easy placement, more income, multi national exposure, 5-day week.
  • Disadvantages are low certainty of job, it is a chair of roses full of thorns, low incentives.
  • Communication skills, stress management, courage to face the interviews, inter-personal relations, leadership qualities are major factors that is been considered
